Video Introduction

BACKGROUND

I'm Kevin Chen and I am work in Software and Product at Ericsson and Vonage (acquired by Ericsson). I love to build products that people not only enjoy but also importantly trust. I graduated with a Statistics degree from UCLA, and thus, I also take on data science projects at work and use data-informed decision making. Coming from an entrepreneurial family in Kolkata, India, I have a keen interest in growing and building things, be it communities, organizations, or even this website! I co-founded Bruin Sports Analytics at UCLA to build a community of sports analytics enthusiasts, interned at a healthcare startups and research centers, and periodically conduct my own projects!

One thing I realised about myself is I love the learning process and finding out the hows and whys of products and services around me. For example, I really wanted to know how websites work, and had a lot of fun learning to make this one!

Hobbies

Outside of professional work and academics, I enjoy taking a breather and getting my mind off things!

• Basketball: I'm pretty out of shape right now though
• Music: I play guitar and drums, dabble on the DJ conntroller, and love listening to RnB and Hip-Hop
• Movies: Crime drama is one of my favorite genres, and I love documentaries for inspiration
• Exploring: I like to explore the city I live in, especially more of the lesser known spots in town
• Food: Indian is my favorite. Hands down.
